³º This is the band’s promise of a deeper look at º ³
³º the songwriting process for their music. Dying º ³
³º Sun has some latent similarities with the º ³
³º previous effort, but it’s more direct and º ³
³º coherent. Instead of the over the top keyboard º ³
³º fest of “Oniric Transition”, this album’s focus º ³
³º is in the guitar work. In general lines, the º ³
³º sound is heavy metal-influenced thrash with a º ³
³º keen eye for melody, with semi-death metal º ³
³º vocals. º ³
³º º ³
³º Before anything, it’s important to notice the º ³
³º clean up in the song structures. Here we won’t º ³
³º hear clueless keyboards floating around, º ³
³º something unfortunately found at “Oniric”. Their º ³
³º role here is secondary: They aren’t present in º ³
³º every song but the discreet (even scarce) use º ³
³º gives depth to an already good solo, or º ³
³º complements a melodic riff, giving a slight º ³
³º special touch to the music. In the only moment º ³
³º when they are the main instrument (the beautiful º ³
³º “Inner Ghost”), you can hear the unbridled º ³
³º excellence. º ³
³º º ³
³º Dying Sun is much more “metal” than the º ³
³º predecessor. The guitars improved dramatically, º ³
³º both in soloing and riff work. This time around, º ³
³º I feel everything I need is here and being º ³
³º executed with taste and accuracy. The lead work º ³
³º is reminiscent of old school heavy metal, being º ³
³º melodic, well structured and memorable. As for º ³
³º the riffs, the band finally started showing º ³
³º their ability to write some fresh stuff mixing º ³
³º up some the heaviness and melody. The way they º ³
³º are arranged is more equilibrated, avoiding º ³
³º excesses in name of a supposed “complexity” that º ³
³º in reality is nothing more than mess. The º ³
³º keyword here is fluidness. Fluidness and º ³
³º catchiness, exactly like any good heavy metal º ³
³º album.s º ³
³º º ³
³º Overall, it’s a great effort where every track º ³
³º is good. But in my opinion, the second half º ³
³º shines a bit more, having the most º ³
³º representative song: Gods of Silver. It has º ³
³º everything that makes this album so good: The º ³
³º screaming melodies, the excellent solos and º ³
³º riffs, the timid presence of the keyboards and º ³
³º the occult power that will make you like it in º ³
³º the first listen. Get it now if you like º ³
³º memorable and well-executed heavy/thrash metal. º ³
