³º The son of actor Selar Sabu, vocalist and º ³
³º guitarist Paul Sabu (b. Burbank, California, º ³
³º USA) has carved out a successful career as a º ³
³º songwriter, producer/engineer and guitarist for º ³
³º a variety of major acts. He has also contributed º ³
³º to numerous film soundtracks, but his solo º ³
³º projects have been dogged by bad luck. The Sabu º ³
³º band, featuring bass player Rick Bozzo and º ³
³º drummer Dan Holmes, found some success with º ³
³º their soulful hard rock debut, but the album º ³
³º made no impression in America because Sabu also º ³
³º released a disco album at the same time on the º ³
³º Ocean label. Sabu turned to studio work, putting º ³
³º his band on ice until Motown subsidiary Morocco º ³
³º offered him a contract. As Kidd Glove, the band º ³
³º adopted a harder style, showcasing Sabu’s vocals º ³
³º (reminiscent of a smokier Sammy Hagar) and º ³
³º guitar work. However, the album did not take º ³
³º off, and when Morocco folded the band followed. º ³
³º Sabu was joined by Bozzo, Dan Ellis (keyboards) º ³
³º and Charles Esposito (drums) for the critically º ³
³º acclaimed Heartbreak, which did well until the º ³
³º label went into liquidation, and Sabu supported º ³
³º himself with an Arista songwriting contract º ³
³º while he put together his next project, Only º ³
³º Child. Sabu finally released a new solo album º ³
³º after a decade’s wait in 1995, collaborating º ³
³º with ex-Baton Rouge guitarist Lance Boulen among º ³
³º others. The record was credited to Paul Sabu, º ³
³º and reawakened interest in an artist considered º ³
³º by many to be a unique guitar talent. º ³
