The Atomic Bitchwax's prestige in the rock underground is well-earned.
Surrounding the release of their first two albums, the band's frenetic approach
and towering musicianship garnered them attention from Warren Haynes (Govt.
Mule/Allman Brothers), MTV's The Real World, Clutch, and Fox Sports Net, and
their combustive performances ranked them as one of the best live acts anywhere.
Unfortunately, live outings were few and far between. Guitarist Ed Mundell's
schedule with Monster Magnet, his other band, cost the Bitchwax numerous touring
opportunities, leaving drummer Keith Ackerman and bassist/singer Chris Kosnik
homebound and frustrated. Finally, in mid 2003, The Atomic Bitchwax and Ed
Mundell parted ways. Wasting no time, Ackerman and Kosnik scooped up Finn Ryan,
ex-singer/guitarist of Columbia artists Core, and embarked on a series of
American and European tours. Intent to gel as a unit before even thinking about
a new record, the band played more than eighty shows ! with Ryan throughout
2004. At last, the Bitchwax returned to familiar haunt Trax East Studios
(Dillinger Escape Plan, God Forbid, Solace) in February of 2005 to record "III."
The band will tour four out of the six months following the release of "III,"
unbound and ready to give the rock world ongoing access to the live Bitchwax it
craves.
