³º their symphonic power metal was enough to win me º ³
³º over, but add in that songwriter Frank Tosi’s º ³
³º guitarwork leans toward a shredding style & is º ³
³º surrounded by continuously exciting synths, and º ³
³º it’s no surprise I’ve been coming back to this º ³
³º album ever since I saw the band live recently. º ³
³º “Under The Dark Wings Of Fire” was an instant º ³
³º hit for me, while the followers “Transitus (A º ³
³º Passing)” & “Iago” are full of emotional depth, º ³
³º power metal drama, guitar solos, & multifaceted º ³
³º synths, altogether easily keeping me interested º ³
³º for the more than ten minutes these companion º ³
³º tracks add up to. Particularly in “Iago,” º ³
³º vocalist Chelsea makes me feel like I’m watching º ³
³º someone slowly fall into a foggy chasm, her º ³
³º words drifting downward with each new line, a º ³
³º credit to the dynamic of her naturally semi- º ³
³º operatic, glassy tone when paired with Frank’s º ³
³º more forceful lyrics. Expect some occasional º ³
³º outbursts of backing vocal screams & wails to º ³
³º accompany Chelsea, done quite nicely on the º ³
³º title track, and if this still isn’t enough to º ³
³º peak your curiosity, guests Ripper Owens & º ³
³º Amanda Somerville each appear in a song as well. º ³
³º The live setting showed none of the limitations º ³
³º that the production does, as the band sounded º ³
³º much more cohesive in person, and it appears a º ³
³º new album is already in the works this year! º ³
