Nick Barrett & Clive Nolan biography
Since a long time Nick Barret and Clive Nolan are both members from known neo-progressive rock band Pendragon. After the release of the LP The Jewel (1985), Nick called his old friend Clive Nolan who was now living in Egham, Surrey to see if they could stay with him whilst doing the rounds of the record companies. Clive Nolan and Nick had been friends since the age of 4 when they started school together. Although Nick was aware that Clive played keyboards he also thought he would be too busy with other commitments so hadn't asked Clive about joining Pendragon. On one of the trips to London they sat up talking, and Nick asked Clive if he knew of any keyboard players... "I'll do it!!!" said Clive, and so at last a line up that would endure the sometimes still turbulent road that would follow! Nicholas "Nick" John James Barrett Date of birth: 8th June 1961. First got into music: when he was about four year old. His mum used to play Beethoven all the time and always had Radio 2 on playing the Beatles, Andy Williams, etc. First record bought: er.. he didn't buy them, just borrowed his sisters, but the first single he ever bought was probably either "Metal Guru" by T. Rex or "10538 Overture" by the Electric Light Orchestra. Most influential album: Pink Floyd "Dark Side Of The Moon" blew him away and still does. Favourite Pendragon song: "Green Eyed Angel" [not Of This World]. Clive Ashley Nolan Date of birth: 30th June 1961. First got into music: his parents were music teachers, so he started playing piano at the age of three, then violin at the age of eight, the went on to get a music degree at University. First record bought: "Danse Macabre" by Saint-Saens, which is a symphonic poem, part of a collection of music which I bought when I was eight. Most influential album: "Seconds Out" by Genesis was the album that made me want to be in a rock band. Favourite Pendragon song: "2AM" [kowtow] and "We'll Go Hunting Deer" [the World]. The Barrett/ Nolan acoustic live Dvd is now here and copies are available from the store. It's an acoustic DVD filmed by a TV crew in Theatre Wyspianskiego in Katowice, Poland in June 2005. The show was as a support slot to Gordon Haskill, [great jazz guy!] so you'll understand why most of the audience look like something from a Tory Party conference! The quality is great and for just a 2 piece band shows off some pretty nifty camera work and a wide spectrum of material. The whole thing is recorded for all regions
