Nazareth Albums
Collection 1971-2016

Nazareth is een Schotse rockband die in 1976 vijf weken 
(onder meer) de Nederlandse Top 40 aanvoerde met het 
nummer Love Hurts, een cover van The Everly Brothers.
Nazareth werd opgericht in 1968 en bestond oorspronkelijk 
uit Dan McCafferty (zang), Manny Charlton (gitarist), Pete 
Agnew (bassist) en Darrell Sweet (drummer). De band bestond
 tien jaar in deze samenstelling, tot in 1978 gitarist Zal Clem-
inson het vijfde bandlid werd. Sindsdien veranderde de samen-
stelling regelmatig door zowel vertrekkende als toegevoegde 
leden, hoewel de stichters lange tijd deel bleven uitmaken van 
de groep. Nazareth bezocht Nederland tijdens Pinkpop 1975.
Anno 2008 behoren de originele leden McCafferty en Agnew 
nog (en zonder tussenpozen) tot Nazareth. Charlton verliet de 
band in 1990. Sweet overleed in 1999 op 51-jarige leeftijd 
aan een hartaanval. In 2013 bij concerten in Canada en St. 
Gallen is McCafferty onwel geworden op het podium. De 66-
jarige zanger had ook al een virusinfectie opgelopen tijdens 
een Brits tournee.
