The horrendous tracking aside, this is another fantastic Musicology concert. The
show itself is a very basic show with only a few unusual moments to distinguish
it from other concerts - what DOES separate it from the others is Prince's
obvious enjoyment that night. He sounds like he's having a great time no matter
that this is nearly the 80th show of the tour - the majority of the material
sounds fresh, and the performance is energetic and a lot of fun. The acoustic
set features a rare performance of 'One Kiss At A Time' (short n' sweet), but
the real joy of the show is from 'Pop Life' onwards. The show builds to a party
atmosphere climax ending with 'Take Me With U'. In between is THAT bass jam to
launch into 'U Got The Look', which features some fantastic guitar work. The
show ends with a great 'Purple Rain' helped along majorly by a fantastic, very
vocal crowd. There are better sound quality Musicology shows circulating, and
there are better and more interesting set-lists circulating, but all in all this
is a fantastic show.
