   Formed as a side project by a pair of Norwegians with past black metal
   alliances, Aura Noir bill themselves as "unholy black thrash", which is quite
   a reasonable description, as their style an intense form of retro thrash
   (think early Kreator or Destruction) with vocals that are a bit more
   contemporary and black-metallish. Mainmen Apollyon and Aggressor have an
   interesting songwriting/ instrument arrangement, with all odd-numbered tracks
   written by Aggressor, who plays guitar, bass, and sings (Apollyon drums), and
   completely switching all songwriting and instrument-playing responsibilities
   on the even-numbered tracks. The band has been quiet for some time as various
   band members participate in other projects, but in 2004 a new album, The
   Merciless, was recorded, and was released later in the year.

   Black Thrash Attack. This album does not lie by its title. This is truly a
   Blackened Thrash Attack of massive proporitons. I love this sound. This albums
   combines the fiery sound of thrash, with the darkness and evilry of black
   metal, into one burning ball of brutality.

   Songs like "The Pest" and the title track "Black Thrash Attack" are prime
   examples of how two genres can combine into an ultimate entity.

   Fast, Incendiary, and raucous. Just the perfect kind of shit to rip stuff up
   to. And it is catchy too. Get this album if you like either thrash or black
   metal, it is well worth the
