Û Skull Crushing!! I'm sorry but those are the only Û
Û words fitting of this band. Under The Grave are Û
Û Montreal-based teenage newcomers, but trust me, Û
Û with time they'll breathe harder down their older Û
Û comrades's necks! Despite the fact that most band Û
Û members are all 18 or close to it, its astonishing Û
Û how mature they sound. Taking cues from swedish Û
Û black/death metal bands for their their sound, Û
Û adding just a tad of trash to the mix. It's all Û
Û the more surprising that they've mastered that Û
Û style right from the beginning. Indeed Until Death Û
Û Takes Us All is a shotgun blast to the head, being Û
Û so varied, melodic, brutal, versatile, that you Û
Û cant help but bang your frigging head against the Û
Û walls. Trust me, it is THAT good. Û
Û Maxime Daigneault is the bellowing voice you hear Û
Û on this record, and boy does this man sounds Û
Û pissed off as hell. There's some variety to his Û
Û vocals, switching from to a death to a black metal Û
Û voice effortlessly. Dany Desnoyers and Olivier Û
Û Dagenais deserve as much praise, belting out Û
Û killer demonic and diversified riffs, covering all Û
Û their trash/death/black influences, and it shows. Û
Û A riff can start as brutally as a warhammer swung Û
Û at your face, then mellow down just a bit to let Û
Û some melody in, before goin at breakneck speed. Û
Û They're very competent axe-men. Olivier Pinard is Û
Û pretty good too, blending in nicely and filling Û
Û all the gaps with some solid bass lines, groovy at Û
Û times, other times as burning as sulfuric acid. Û
Û Last but not least, Anthony Savoia. Wow. Need i Û
Û say more? Obviously i do. They're not too Û
Û complicated, although this man sure is a good Û
Û technical basher, who can switch from normal beats Û
Û to some pretty intricate drum fills. Û
Û As mentioned above, taking their cues from the Û
Û swedish metal scene, the same production was Û
Û applied to this album. Which makes me think these Û
Û fellow skull-crushers know perfectly well what Û
Û they do and where they're going. The sound is a Û
Û lil gruff, but clean enough to let you enjoy every Û
Û musician's part. This was the road to take, which Û
Û such monster songs as those. Polishing the sound Û
Û even more may have taken a little bit of Û
Û aggressivity off of their music and THAT would've Û
Û been a real shame. I haven't had the chance to Û
Û hear their self-released demo, but if this album Û
Û is any indication, they're destined to go real Û
Û far, if they keep it together and with some good Û
Û promotion too. I hope they do both, so we may hear Û
Û more from these men. 'Cause believe me or not, but Û
Û Under The Grave is taking down names and will send Û
Û all non believers to their fiery death!!! Û
