When people discuss impressive audience recordings from the Nude tour I"m rather surprised this release doesn"t get praised more as it is amongst the best quality audience recordings from the entire tour. The audience level is at an absolute minimum for the majority of the recording and the performance is extremely loud, clear and to the fore. Evidently this particular release has been sourced from an old vinyl boot as the vinyl ***ling can be heard during quieter sections of the show, however it"s merely an observation. Unfortunately what does slightly spoil the recording are a number of fades throughout which mean sections of the show are incomplete - both "Controversy" and the piano instrumental intro to "The Question Of U" are incomplete. That aside, the quality is so good I can quite happily overlook those small glitches. The show itself is rather unremarkable with the exception of the less-normally performed "Bambi" being the main highlight. The closing "Baby I"m A Star" jam is far less frantic than many other versions and includes some lengthy piano embellishments by Prince along with the chant from "It"s Gonna Be A Beautiful Night". The quality of the recording is certainly far superior to the content of the show, however as Nude tour audience recordings of this quality are few and far between, it"s a nice hidden gem which really should be appreciated more than it is.
